Born a southerner, live in Ohio, disabled. I am working on a book entitled 'Grandma's Wisdom or Not'. In 1983 I entered the police academy at the age of forty-four. We graduated February of 1984 and I turned forty-five the second day of March. I graduated second in my class.
The first year in law-enforcement, I was honored with a plaque for 'Officer of the year. This was the first time the township had ever presented this plaque and it would be the last. The second year, I was promoted to sergeant. In 1987 I was hired by Duke Universities Public Safety department. The pay scale was better than I was making.
