| Biography: | Lilly is not my real name. It reflects the place where I grew up on the plaines of the Curragh in (Lilly White Country) Co Kildare, historically associated with everything that is pure Irish. A large family relatively poor, retrospectively rich, musical and memorable. I never like the name 'Biddy' albeit, Born on St.Brigids Day overlooking the Shannon River in the exact centre of Ireland, where my younger sister and I would trade places away from our Army Quarters home every school holiday throughout our youth and adolesences. We sang in the Choir & Community concerts; We tap-danced the origional Riverdance before it's world wide renown; We grew up through the era that believed we were an Island of Saints & scolars; Born from a vision of two seperate lifestyles we wrote our short, childish, eloquent & discriptive stories that were short term in their acclaim; We both joined the medical profession & lost our artistic skills along the academic way, emigrated,(UK & USA) while our male siblings followed the patriot ancestral military pathway. We are grandparents now and converse across the waves. |
