Your story has left me speechless!! Wow! I had to reread the first part ... thinking I had missed out on you telling that a bear had attacked! You are a brave lady ... and I am very proud to know you!

You are truly in the arms of an angel. You have been blessed by GOD. SMILE.

Good gosh, Kathe!
How lucky you are to even be alive.

My wife, Ginny, had a horse. He was a
big one. At the time, Ginny and I were
on the road to marriage. She lived in
Charlotte, North Carolina.
I lived in New Jersey. We met in an
online group for widows and widowers.
She flew up to Jersey twice to meet me.
One day, my phone rang. It was her son.
I had never spoken to him before.
It was shock for him to call me.
It rang warning bells.

He said,"Mike, Mom's been hurt."

Apparently, Ginny was hitching her horse. Something spooked him. He reared up
and the reins pulled Ginny's thumb the
the rail. He kept rearing and pulling the
hitch tighter. By the time it was over,
her thumb was almost ripped off.
The doctors managed to save it.

After the first call, I never heard another word that day.
Her son never thought to call me.
I was just a guy his mom knew.
He never thought of me as family, but
I was. I was in Ginny's heart.

When I got home from work that night,
I paced the floor waiting for word.
Late in the evening Ginny called me.
The relieve I felt told me everything.
It was at that moment I knew I loved her.
My worry said it all. The relieve I felt
that night was the mark of a man who loved someone.

We married a month later. Since then, I hold her every day.
