I saw the location of Hilliard, OH and since I am a 'Buckeye' though living in FL, I thought I would read 'I'm Sorry, Kitty'. You did the right thing by taking Kitty where help was at hand. I have been in the same type of situation. It hurts but it is the right decision. It would have been worse if Kitty would have been left to suffer outside totally alone. Thanks for the story. It helps me keep in mind that I am not the only one with these types of doubting feelings. Diane

What a sweet, but sad story. It's a good reminder to pet owners to have their pets neutered. Thanks for sharing. Curious. Did you ever call back to see if "Little One" made it? Janet

I never called, Janet.
I didn't want to hear if it was bad news.
Call me chicken

Mike, your love for animals combined with your tender, compassionate heart make this a tear jerker of a true story. You write with much feeling, and readers love it when you infuse conversation into your writings. We feel "right there."
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.

What a bittersweet little story. I especially appreciated the ending--I would have felt the same way. Keep writing.

I knew this wouldn't have a happy ending when I read the title of the post. Why, oh why did I read this? I know, you think you did the right thing. Whatever. For me, I have to take the leap and do what I can for the life of an animal. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I sleep well.

I thought I did
Then again, maybe I didn't
I guess that is why I wrote the story
To try to explain the guilt I felt
