Friends just slip away

When I turned 88
On my last birthday
The thought suddenly hit me
My how time does slip away

From infancy
To friends you meet along the way
Then it hits you
Where is that time today?

Some friends
Now far away
No trouble at all to recall
Their memories right away

Some friends are short term
Some are long
Some are weak
Some are strong

Through kindergarten
Grade school, High School, and College
Friends you make
While seeking more knowledge

There are short time friends
There are long time friends
There are life time friends
There are friends that move away

Chelsea school friends
Chelsea Church friends
Chelsea farm friends
My Chelsea friends arenít around today

Friends I made in the Army
Friends I made in Basic training
Overseas and far away
Funny how time just slips away

My friends
The ones I had yesterday
Are no longer here
Theyíre just a memory

I have a million memories
Branded in my brain
Of my many friends
Iíll recall again and again

So while I ponder
About my friends of yesterday
Make new friends while you can
Time just slips away
