DIPLOMATIC HYPOCRASY
By Fred Wickert

Today both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton made remarks before the TV cameras condemning a letter some Republican members of the Senate sent to both Obama and The Ayatollah of Iran reminding them that any agreement they made between them that was not approved by Congress is only good until the next President takeís office.

Both of them said basically the same thing. It is unknown whether they preplanned it that way or if they just think alike. They both complained that the Republican Senators must be in bed with the Iranians to do such a thing.

I have a message for both of them. They are not in bed with the Iranians but we are not so sure you are not. They are simply making sure that the Iranians are aware that unless Congress approves whatever deal they make, it is their deal alone and not a valid treaty between the two countries. As soon as a new President is sworn in he or she can make that agreement null and void.

They did not do it to help the Iranians. They did it to help the United States of America and Israel. Quite frankly, I donít believe for a minute that they give a darn about Iran.

Both of them accused breach of diplomatic protocol for doing it. That causes me to ask them why it is a breach of protocol when the Republicans do it and yet it is perfectly okay when the Democrats do it. When George Bush asked her not to and Nancy Pelosi asked a Middle Eastern head of state to meet with her at the Capital when she was Speaker, because the Democrats did not agree with something President Bush was trying to have him do, neither Obama or Hillary thought there was anything wrong with it at all. They both defended it. Why then is this so wrong? All they did was send him a letter to make sure he was aware whatever deal he made with Obama was only good while Obama was President unless it was approved by Congress. If you are being honest, what is wrong with that? After all, it is the truth. Is the truth so painful to you both?
