For the last year, at a four-way stop sign I pass twice a day, Iíve seen a cross and flowers.

It was a crude cross, constructed when someone was in deep grief. It wasnít pretty, but itís
meaning was clear. The cross made a point. Someone died at that crossroad. Someone lost their
life. Family members marked this spot to signify their loss.

A couple days ago, as I went through this intersection once again, I saw an older couple.
They had a new and very beautiful cross to replace the old one. They worked hard to erect the
new memory of their lost loved one.

Their work honored someone they loved.

I admired their effort Ötheir love.

I donít want that for me when I am gone.

I donít need a marker. I donít need a headstone. I want to live on in your memories,
my laughter and jokes to be remembered, my hugs to always be felt.

I want my marker on your heart.
