I sat on our front landing. It was just before Christmas. It’s a magical time of
year. Most people are in a good mood. I heard our downstairs neighbor’s door open and close.
Lainey, started up the stairs. She carried the saw my next door neighbor loaned her to
trim the tree I gave her for Christmas.

“Hey, Lainey! You get that tree trimmed?”

“Yup!”

“Ready to decorate it?”

“Almost! We just need to get it on the stand.”

“I miss the smell of a real tree, but not the mess they make. A real tree is special though.”

“I agree …and thank you for giving it to us.”

“My pleasure.”

She knocked on my neighbor’s door and returned the saw.

She turned to leave. “Don’t leave. Have a seat. let’s chat.”

“OK!”

She sat; we talked.

My neighbor stepped out. The three of us chatted.

My door opened. Ginny joined us.

A few minutes later, Lainey’s partner, Heather, came outside, walked up the steps
and joined us. It was now a party of five …a special impromptu gathering. We stood, sat
and laughed for half an hour.

It’s special to have great neighbors. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

We have that.
