This is a Poem

Really? Should not a collection
of words be more than
soft and sweet sentiment, right?

“Dire among the trees
and without friends, a sparrow
lost his will; yet soon reclaimed
and now free
to fly at will and seek anew.”

How come poets write so often
about people, and places, and other
sad things?

“He stood among the crowd
deep in the midst of unknowns,
dementia closing in; suffocating

memories of friends, and joyful life
soon closeted in his mind; forever.”

PS. Poems record life – nature, people.
