At Twilight’s Embrace

Coldness suffers the landscape
into a paste of white-wash,
covers shrubs and escape-routes
for moles and other creatures
awakened to the fact winter arrived,

shivering glad for the supply
of food already hidden.

A crow’s silhouette watches
at twilight’s finale –
flutters to a new perch.

From bared limbs leaves
descended into nature’s bosom,
awaiting season’s chill.
