They Will Know

I love Christmas: decorating the tree and hanging colorful lights outside for the
neighbors to enjoy. I always do my Christmas tree myself. Every ornament holds a memory,
some of which go back to my childhood. My Mum made sure I took those ornaments with me,
when I moved out on my own.

2016 is different. I have a lot of pain, sciatic pain in my legs and I also have a skin
condition that the doctors have yet to diagnose. I have rash all over me. I itch all the time.
I wake between three and four AM every morning, scratching until I bleed. Basically, Iím
terribly uncomfortable.
Miserable is a better word.

Iím not a person who asks for help very often. I like to do things for myself.
I didnít have to ask.

Our former neighbor, one of her daughters and Ginny did the Christmas tree for me. I
only did the garland. If I tried to give them direction, theyíd give me a look that made it clear,

I was to shut up.

My next-door neighbor went through my old outdoor lights with Ginny. I havenít
used those lights in many years. Theyíre old.
Between the two of them, they had our new home lit up beautifully.

You donít have to ask good people for help. They will know you need it and come
to your aid.

Iím thankful for good friends and neighbors.
