A different plateau this ageing business.
From childhood cries to exploring
our neighbourhood yard as a
here- there-everywhere three-year-old.
Living is repetitious. Such
independence from a new arrival
on this planet we ponder.
He is able to test the flavour
of growing older into a pre-teen
with flexing muscles.
Then the desires of a 20-something
follows romance and life.
Marriage completes the circle
of natural adventures. As a finale
I see myself in this nursing
home staring at photos
from the past--
bathed in a well of love.
