I am often asked how to post stories to OurEcho that are already typed into other word processing application or email. The simple answer is copy and paste. That’s simple enough for the computer savvy, but for others it may not be as obvious. Here is a simple explanation.

COPY AND PASTE USING THE MOUSE

1. Put the mouse at the beginning of what you want to copy and click the left mouse button, holding it down while you drag over the section you would like to copy. Drag across or down. At the end of what you want copied, let go of the mouse button. What you want to copy should be highlighted! (If you make a mistake, click the mouse button once to unhighlight, then start over.)

2. Now put your cursor over the highlighted text and right click. Use your mouse to select "copy". The text is now saved in memory, so you can paste it almost anywhere.

3. Begin to post a story in OurEcho as you always do. When you get to the “Tell Your Story” text box, using your mouse left click in the area to place your cursor there and then right click. You will see an option to "paste". Select it and the text should now appear.

This technique works in almost all computer applications and after using it for a while, you’ll find you can’t live without it.

I would always encourage you to type your posts into another word processing application or email before posting to OurEcho. That way if you have a problem or lose the internet connection, you can just copy and past it back in. These other applications also give you nice features (like spell check) that are not found in OurEcho.
