Describing An Event Without Naming It

The day dawns bright and hot. Flags unfurl and catch the breeze. Patriotically dressed crowds gather in town squares all across the nation. Red, white and blue bunting decorates porches and fences. Members of marching bands tune up their instruments, buglers tap the keys while drummers twirl their sticks. Bright red artificial poppies are distributed in exchange for a donation then are pinned to lapels. "In Flanders Fields" flits through our minds. Honor Guards ready themselves for an important mission at hand. Cemeteries are visited and floral offerings are left there. Tears wash across many faces. Memories are stirred. Veterans are honored. We solemnly remember that sacrifices were made. We pause to cherish our freedom. We must remember.
