Each month OurEcho donates to a charity as a another way of thanking those that post. Our February, 2006 charity is The Nature Conservancy. We are proud to support the mission of The Nature Conservancy in saving the last great places on earth.

The Nature Conservancy works to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. This organization has developed a strategic, science-based planning process, called Conservation by Design, which helps them identify the highest-priority places-landscapes and seascapes that, if conserved, promise to ensure biodiversity over the long term. Conservation by Design allows The Nature Conservancy to achieve meaningful, lasting conservation results.

Worldwide, there are thousands of these precious places. Taken together, they form something extraordinary and by protecting and managing these Last Great Places over the long term, The Nature Conservancy hopes to secure the future of the natural world.
