April, 2006 Each month OurEcho donates to a charity as a another way of thanking those that post. This month I also wanted to recognize two individuals for their generosity. When I told Renee Holland Davidson she had won $25 in OurEcho’s Reader Appreciation Contest, she told me she wanted to “pay it forward” and use it to buy toys for the children on the oncology floor where she volunteers. $25 just didn’t seem enough for that kind of generosity, so I made the Children's Hospital of Orange County our monthly charity and kicked in another $50. A similar thing happened when I told Bonnie Jarvis-Lowe that she had won the monthly contest. She told me that “Anytime I write about Little Liam and his Patchwork Quilt, I send them the money for his Education Savings Plan so his Mom will be just ecstatic.” I applaud both the efforts of these two generous individuals. |
