this is an attempt to reconstruct a poem that i wrote about 34 years ago,i am rewriting it now because my sister in kentucky said that she liked it back when i first wrote it,so sis,if you read this i Hope it meets your expectations. your BRO.

See those trees over there?
the ones so dark and brown?
it wasn't long ago,
they were the greenest ones around.
But a careless person,
dropped a match upon the ground,
and the little flame grew,
till it burned the forest down.
Now the trees are gone,
the grass all dark and sere,
and it will not be green again,
for many and many a year.
Oh they were once so green,
the Larch, the Fir and the Pine,
but they are gone forever,
and they were friends of mine.
Among thier friendly branches,
in my youth i did climb,
and listened as the wind,
played music so sublime,
that it tamed my wild soul,
and eased my youthful mind.
But now they are gone forever,
friends no longer to be found,
because some careless person,
dropped a match upon the ground.
