Dear Friends and fellow Americans, this Country is in a mess, politically, financially and morally. What has bought us to this sorry state of affairs? We did it ourselves,we did it by not getting out and getting envolved in our election process,we did it by not teaching our kids to behave and ignoring them, expecting the schools and teachers to be parents instead of taking that responsibility. We did it by expecting the federal, state and local government to be our big brother and our overseer, but remember,"a government strong enough to give us everything we need,is strong enough to take everything we have."
Now i do not consider myself to be a political pundit, for i dont have hardly enough sense to balance a check book, let alone run a country, but when our elected officials can just ignore the law of the land and put the country in the middle of a war without following due process, then somthing is drastically wrong. We as americans seem to have come to think that our military can and will bail us out of anything, including going into cities in america and "rescuing" private citizens in a time of natural disasters, and we also stand by while the federal bureau of investigations single handedly burns down a building with children inside as it did in waco texas.I know that the attack on the world trade center was wrong,a cowardly act to say the least, but i do not believe that the sovreighn nation of Iraq was to blame,i do not think that Saddam Husain posed any threat to America and,if you remember, there were never any weapons of mass destruction found any where in that country, yet Mr.husain was hunted down and hanged, hanged to be sure by his own people, but would it have happened if the U.S.A. were not envolved? There were a lot of military personel who were opposed to the war with Iraq, but thier oppinnions were largely glossed over or not taken seriously. So i ask you,are we better off now? is the world a safer place because we invaded Iraq? Some how i seriously doubt it.I am not opposed to war,i would be among the first to go and fight if an enemy were storming our shores, but can you sit there and tell me honestly, that you are happy that all our young men and women have sacrificed so much by going to Iraq? By fighting a war that,in my oppinion was useless and senseless and ignorant.I am an ex military person,i truly believe in Democracy and in going to war if it is nessasary to protect our way of life, but our way of life is not the way of life for every one.
Financially we are now in a recession,a recession that is only going to get worse as time goes by,there is a glut of houses on the market, yet we are still building houses, the banks are in trouble with all the bad adjustable rate mortgages they made to borrowers that could not or would not repay, foreclousers are at an all time high and will tend to increase in 2008 and what are we doing about it?Nothing, except pointing fingers and assigning blame and building more houses, making more loans and expecting the federal government to bail us out of the mess,a mess that we caused,a mess that we are going to have to live with for a long time.Do i have an easy answer to all of this? nope, there are no easy answers, that is the root of the problem,we have come to expect an easy answer to every thing,if there is no easy answer, then let the government solve the ptoblem, send in the military or throw some money out and get it solved. We can no longer hide our heads in the sand nor can we any longer sit on our hands and expect the feds to bail us out,we,as a nation, must accept the responsibility for our own mistakes and fix the problems,we must teach our children to be responsible adults, teach them that life is neither fair nor easy and that education is a valuable commodity.
Morally,America is a waste land, the churches are failing, the educational system is a joke and our jails are over crowded, the judicial system is swamped with back logged cases, and still crime is on the increase, the whole fabric of our american way of life is unraveling and we sit around and tut tut at soap opera's.
So,there you have it,we have become a nation of sycophants and vipers at a time when we should be acutely aware of all that is around us and and how to fix the problems we are facing,we close our eyes and hope that the government will come to our rescue...
