New Year's Eve Musing

New Year's Eve arrives a bit sooner each year, or so it seems. Time flies when you're having fun--an old cliche which rings with truth. Wasn't it only weeks ago we were celebrating the end of 2006, ready to greet 2007?

Tonight we are ready to bid 2007 a fond farewell. It's been a roller coaster year at our house with both good and bad events. Overseas travel, meeting friends in a faraway city, a family wedding in Chicago which provided a glorious spot for a family reunion--these were some of the happy moments. My husband received a cancer diagnosis, went through many medical tests and surgery, but he came through it cancer-free. A daughter had severe stomach pain for weeks until she ended up with surgery to remove her gallbladder. And she, too, is now fine. Our bad things all turned out fine, and I am ever grateful.

2007 brought me many writing successes, and once again I am thankful for the opportunities I had to share my work with others via the written word.

I will list 2007 among the better years of my life. And come midnight, I'll welcome 2008, ready to meet whatever it brings. I wouldn't want to look into a crystal ball to see all this new year will bring me. Far better to let it happen a little at a time, day by day. Hopefully I'll meet the good and the bad with a positive attitude, patience and acceptance. Come on 2008. I'm ready for you.
