Oh,the way things are today!
it's a shame and it's a sin
and i cannot start to begin
to tell you how things are today!
And if my old Grand Pappy knew,
you know what he would do?
He would just roll over in his grave!
oh sometimes it makes me shudder
at the words that they utter
on that old radio and tee vee.
oh,the way things are done today!
i went to a picture show last night,
and the words that i heard gave me a fright,
and it filled my soul with dread,
and made my face turn red,
when Mr.Gable said,that awful word!
and sometimes i get the vapors
when i read my morning papers,
oh,the words that they print in black and white!
but whats a body to do
when every one else dose it too,
and no one seems to care anyway?
And they just laugh or they smile,
and say that i'm senile,
but i wish it were still the good old days.
But those good old days are gone,
but i do so sorely long
for the way it was anyway,
back when we sang those happy songs
and the days seemed twice as long
and you could count on Mom or Dad,
when things went wrong.
And i know what i would do
and if you could,so would you
I would go back to live,
in those good old days!
Oh i wish it were still yesterday!
