This story is about Rape, not just any Rape, but the Rape of Males by Males in the U.S.Military.I feel that this issue has been covered up,swept under the rug and ignored, not only by the Military, but also by our Government for too long.
It is a problem because Males are 2 or 3 times more apt to suffer mental and emotional problems after being sexualy assaulted than Females,Males are more likely not to seek psychiatric and medical aid, more likely not to report the assault and more likely to develope mental and physical ailments than Female victims.
PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) cost the U.S.Government huge sums of money each month to pay veterans disability compensation, this compensation is paid for out of taxes that the Government collects from it's citizens.
I have heard all the jokes people tell about male on male sexual intercourse but i dont find them funny i have been singled out and harassed, called gay, sent to the stockade, psychoanalyzed and honorably discharged after 23 years of service, and yes i still feel victimized and ignored,i am resentful, angry and considered mentally unstabel, but i am persistant, and i dont think our Government is doing enough to stop this crime. In fact,it is impossible to even get information on the person or persons responsible, like as to what type of discharge they have, where they live or anything.
Whats worse is that the VA makes it almost impossible to recieve any medical care for male victims, then as well as now, there seems to be a vast indifference to the plight of male victims of rape in the military.People just dont want to face the fact that it happens,it is a subject that is taboo. And,i think,it is almost as if you are being unpatriotic to even mention it,they consider you some sort of subversive or even a closet terrorist if you have the nerve to postulate such an idea. This is not a conspiracy theory,it happens every day.
I think that each service, Marines,AirForce,Navy and the Army would do well to have an outspoken team to teach classes on the subject,to shine a light in this dark corner of the human psyche and talk openly about the consequences of this henious crime.Further more, the perpetrators and victims should be seperated, not forced to co-exist in the same area.
these are a few of my thoughts and experiences,i make no apologies for anything i have written here and take full responsibility for the content of this post,i thank you for reading it and hope it will help some one in the future.
