Fred Wickert, our stalwart, popular, and one of the first members of the Our Echo Community of writers, is at home resting after a quadruple by-pass - with complications. After numerous signs over the past year, his doctor told him he was a walking time bomb, so he underwent the surgery three weeks ago. I simply couldn't stand it a minute longer, so called Fred at his home in Gilboa, NY. He sounded a little weak and said he still wasn't even allowed to pick up one of his precious kitties to snuggle with and hoped to be able to write a note on his computer soon. I also couldn't help but tease him a little about the wordy stories he'll be telling us of his ordeal. Take it easy, Fred, and know your fans miss you and wish you a speedy recovery.
