I got my education
in the cities of this Nation
many years ago,
I have a Ph.D from the Univerity
of a hard knock or two
with a major in lumps
and a minor in bruises and bumps,
so dont presume to tell me what to do.
Just because you wear a coat and tie
and you work from nine till five
dont mean a thing to me,
so dont give me no superior looks
cause all the learning aint in books,
thats a truth for all the world to see,
and though you think i am a bum,
that aint my total sum,
cause the bill aint tallied till we die.
And when we reach that Pearly Gate,
only then will we know our fate
and you might have a rude surprize.
For though you have a long degree
and i am only me,
every thing evens out across the board,
and if i may be so bold,
this is what i have oft been told,
we are all equals in the eyes of the Lord..
