Passage in Time

My seat belt is a corral of
firmness
preventing any movement,
fingers bunched.

Above Arkansas, jet
passengers are
prisoners in flight, stewardess’
alarmed at weather
forecasts, tornado velocity

a combo of air currents, reality in
contact, our Boeing 737
a grasping kite of rivets, wings

storm surrounding, everyone
rapid-bonding, eyes wide
lips in motion. Journey-ending a
happy occasion, family hugs.
