The Slough

is a restful pond in
its wilderness domain

and cloistered
in colourful bunches
ducks are slaves
to respite on a
billowy November day

heads tucked in from
unexpected snow
feathers anxious for
sunís warmth.

Suddenly movements
in a field of activity
stare upwards
flight plans re-visited.
