Down he saw the blue horizon
And above the beautiful morn
The sun approaching high
And chasing dusk from dawn.

"Along the drift, I should drift
And power the boat along" -
The fisherman thought and Nature
Supported in the birds' song.

He set sail . . .

The sun hid, a bird flew,
The earth beneath did seek.
Everything so calm, so quiet,
And the trusted Nature - meek.

His beloved Nature darkened.
Darkness everywhere. The sky - dark.
The waves rolled and tossed much,
As the foam rose up high.

The horizon blurred mysteriously,
And the rousing waves encircled the pith.
The mystic gateway led deep down.
Reality seemed like a myth.

The sun rose again the other day.
Nothing the sea was able to say.
Nature was eternally gay
And on the shore a breathing body lay.

His eyes - pale . . .
