Like a Park

Dexters moo happily
In Septemberís pasture
the herd of them
snacking on grass
lazy near the slough

and ducks begin their swooping
during sunís restful pause.
Nearby lamas raise
grinch-like snouts
accepting rustling wings
of interruption.

Within these spaces
life is but a moment in time
and September sky a crowd of
wind-swept poplar leaves
jiggling with joy.
A blend of creature
earth and sky.
