Big Island Merigomish

The shore is a carpet
of seaweed
kelp and moss
hurled from the sea

and hidden beneath
the flotsam are
treasures
awaiting discovery

clams and stones
the colour of
smoothed-out glass

when tidalís
retreat coughs up
islands of sand.
