Artist II

There are artist’s that put on canvas
Paintings of “Mother and Child”
Other artists that paint
Animals in the wild

But I watched another kind of Artist
One who worked on me
Who replaced in my left eye a lens
So better I could see.

As I lay on the gurney
My left eye staring into a light
With steady handed deftness
The Doctor provided me with much better sight.

The following day
After the patch was removed
I was amazed at how much brighter
Were the red, white and blues

Now as I gaze at
Those paintings hanging on the wall
By famous artists
Whose names I don’t recall

There’s an eye Doctors name
That I won’t forget
He fixed it so I could see brighter colors
Outside my home and on my TV set.
