Artist V

There are age-old edifices
Take the ruins of “The Parthenon”
The leaning tower of “Pisa”
Or the “Hanging Gardens of Babylon”

Give me a tattered old farm home
Paint faded and gone
Window glasses broken
Screen door barely hanging on

A shade tree at one corner
Leafless for many years
This sight of a once happy family’s home
Hard to hold back the tears.

An old windmill
In a state of badly needed repair
The fan-tail hanging loosely
Swinging gently in the air.

An old painted red faded barn
Standing several degrees out of plumb
Which was storage and shelter
For livestock back in “31”

This scene would make a great painting
Showing the ravages of weather and Father Time
Since I’m not an artist
I’ll keep this image frozen, in my mind.
