This was a big class for Chelsea
Sometimes there were only two
Melda Welty and I
Went all the way through

From 1st to the 8th
As the sharecroppers moved in and out
On vacated farms the class would swell
If there was no drought.

There were two families of Turners
Quienonis Vidrois and Garcia
Cundell, Haver, Holderman
Cook, you get the idea.

You’d make a friend
Then they’d move on
Never to be seen again
They’re forever gone.

Melda, Monte and Barbara
Now there’s three
Alive and “Kickin”
Octogenarian’s are we.

It’s been a long tough road
Many sad things happened to us
Loss of loved ones
But we’re here today and that’s a plus.
