1930 Motor Home

My 1930 Motor Home
(Traveling Salesman)

Could this be “Avon Calling”
Selling talcum’s, lipsticks-definitely a must
Sorely needed
Out here in the dust.

Maybe the local Doctor
And of course his nurse
With his bag of medications
For him to disperse.

Maybe the Census taker
Questions to be filed and sent
With his satchel full of forms
To be mailed to the government.

Maybe the Everware pot salesman
A pot for every thing
Washing, cooking, and one for Mom, Dad, and the kids
When you can’t get to the outhouse in the rain.

Maybe a Singer Sewing machine salesman
With an installment plan
That makes one affordable
Even to a poorman.

Could be the local welfare office
Making their rounds
Checking up on their recipients
Seeing if any stashed money can be found.

Could be the local Welcome Wagon
With coupons to the local store
Given by the merchants
In hopes you’ll purchase more.

Could be the local law enforcement
With eviction notice in his hand
To give 30 days notice
To get off this land.

Could be the Elixir salesman
Doc.is his name
Spreading misery evenly
So every one suffers the same.
(Who Knows?)
