EHS Entrance

South Entrance of the El Dorado High School Auditorium
El Dorado, Kansas.

As I look at this picture
I see something I hadnít seen before
Above the entranceís
High above the doors.

Etched into the stone are letters
The letters arenít defined enough to read
Are these some Latin words
Some oath or a famous Creed?

I canít believe,
As a student I didnít see
The beauty of this faÁade
Each time I entered staring back at me.

As I rushed from class to class
The only thing on my mind
Not to be late
Or to get too far behind,

I never missed A pretty face
Or to speak to a new found friend
With my bunch of school books
As I traveled those halls from end to end

For us who have roamed those halls
Have beaten the bell to class
Such thoughts and memories
In our minds will forever last.
