As I walked this morning the air was cool and clean*
I thanked God for this lovely scene
Of hills and mountains that I was able to see
And, especially, at my age the ability
To enjoy the stillness and no noise from any machine,

But far off in the distance I heard a dog bark
It shattered the silence as I walked through the park
The stillness came back
Suddenly I heard a loud crack
As Dawn broke and chased away the dark.
