Didja ever regret something?

I guess I have a guilty conscience
And maybe asking for forgiveness
When I think back over my life
I’ve said some strange things, I must confess

They’re only words, but hurtful words
Maybe I shouldn’t have said
Or words
Or things that I should have said.

There were words
That I would take back
If I only had the chance
Or maybe some mean spirited crack.

Nothing now I can do
To make amends
Can’t apologize to
My old friends

They have gone on before
I’m left here in my despair
And suffer
Not able to repair,

Once said words
The damage is done
No real way
To atone.

Things that you wished you had said
To your Dad or little brother
To your Uncle or Aunt
Especially to your Mother.

Now tell the ones
Close to you
Just how much they mean
It’s way overdue,

While they can still
Hear your words
Of love and friendship
They’re better heard,

While they’re living
And not wait
As I did
And suffer my fate.
