Downtown Pub

Nineteen equals
legal chug-a-lugging

cold drafts
in two's and three's

money, only paper
escaping one pocket
for another.

University lads order
another round, waitress
happy, her kind
of crowd

stale jokes n hollow
laughter, fish n chips
lots of beer.

A noisy bunch, tips
are good. Some can't down
a glass quick enough

and the porcelain bowl
ready for a new customer.

Words like voyeurs wind
through the melee
accepting tasty gossip

and another round
of drinks arrive on time.
