In a Small Church
Out Russell Kansas Way
Monte Manka and Shirley Goetz
Will be married here today

The day was sultry
Was a stormy looking afternoon
As I stood before Reverand Altoff
Knowing soon

That I was to be married
To the love of my life
My pretty Shirley Goetz
Who I would take for my wife.

Jay Lawrence of El Dorado
Was my best man
Laura Lee Funk from Russell
With Shirley would stand

As Shirley’s Father, Lewis
Walked with Shirley down the aisle
My heart was beating triple fast
I stood woodenly all the while

As Shirley’s father gave me
Her tiny trembling hand
In marriage we were united
60 years later side by side we stand.

Things do not always run smooth
Sometimes it gets rough
After sixty years
We’re together, sure enough.

When I think about this
I find it kinda neat
Sixty years together
Is an amazing feat.
