Halloween Party, Nov. 1938

Halloween Program for the Mothers
(Nov. 1938)

In this blast
From the past
Even then I was cast
As an “Old Man”
Looking for “Golden Treasure”

With my piano solo
“The Witches Dance”
Along with the others
The Miss Sager took a chance
I thought it a “Desperate Measure”

As I read this page
I remember the names and the faces
Not the play or the piano solos
From my mind ‘time’ has left no traces
71 years ago remembering the play “Golden Treasure”

Miss Sager was a Dutch lady
I had two years in her class
She put up with no whispering
You knew better than to sass
Being disruptive to her was such a displeasure

From her 30 dollar a month salary
Miss Sager so proper, had a heart of gold
She purchased the material for the Chelsea Chimes
That we the Students of Chelsea sold
At our leisure.

As I moved on to Junior High
Of Miss Sager I lost track
I heard she got married, moved to Florida
Raised a family and never came back
Having her as my teacher was such a pleasure
