Getting Old

Getting Old
Ainít No Fun
But up to now
Iíve enjoyed the run

Iíve had my illness
Iíve had my strife
But all in all
Itís been a good life.

Iíve made lots of friends
Some are gone
But their memories
Linger on

In my mind
I still can see
What my life
Used to be.

Born on the farm
In 1926
Just another
Country hick

But here I am
Still upright
Not really
A healthy sight

I can still laugh
I can still cry
As time
Passes me by

I can hear
I can see
Somethingís wrong
Where my hair used to be

Not only gray
Mighty thin
My curly pompadour
Nothing but skin

I can love
I can feel
Muscles flabby
Not like steel

Every day
I take my pills
Red, blue and white
To cure my ills

So all in all
Iím here to say
Iím ready for
Another day.
