Panning for Gold

Panning for Gold

Hey, Jeb
About that guy
Watching us yesterday
What did he
Have to say?

I was down at the creek
When you were told
Something about us
Panning for gold.

Josh, He was a college grad
Said he was planning
On making us
Stop the panning.

He said we were disturbing the fish
The tadpoles, minnows, crayfish, and shiners
Said for us to stop panning
Boy, he was a real whiner.

Where did that city boy go?
I showed him my “44”
He started running
I don’t think we will see him anymore

Well looka here
In the bottom of my pan
Sumpin shiny
There in the sand.

Two tiny nuggets
Nary a fish
In the bottom
Of my dish.
