The Hawk

Hawk on the Rock

Across our back yard
Across the Nile, and on a large rock
Sits a mean, vicious, beautiful bird
Known as a "Hawk."

He sits there knowing
That he is King
Large and bold as he
Preens the feathers on his wing.

It’s hard to see beauty in
The Hawk, something that feeds
On cute little Bunny’s and Squirrels and Quails
But in order to live, on these he feeds.

The beauty of the Hawk
Soaring high up in the sky
With the wings coasting on air
Where he can spy

On his next meal
Running around down below
Could be a Turtle Dove
Doncha know.

But we people
Ya dig,
As prey for the Hawk
We’re just too darn big.
