A Touch of Kansas

A touch of Kansas

As I was walking to the lodge
For my morning cuppa Joe
I looked to my left
And what do you know

I spotted a Sunflower
Standing all alone
I whipped out my camera
And captured a touch of home.

This lonely Sunflower
Standing there so proud
It stopped me in my tracks
And I said aloud

There’s the State flower
Of my home state
Reminded me of home
Goodness I felt great,

Now that I know where it is
I can see it every day
I hope the gardener
Will leave it stay that way

Maybe he’s from Kansas
And he won’t mow it down
So daily I can be reminded
Of far away El Dorado, my Home Town.
