Thanksgiving 2

Thanksgiving 2
6128 Michelson, in Lakewood our first California Home

Thanks giving Day in the early 60s
I wasnt sure what Id done
Moving from Kansas
To this great California Sun

The temperature that Thanksgiving Day
Was 100 plus degrees
No air conditioning, just a fan
And theres not a breeze.

All the doors and windows open
Trying to catch any draft
Lived close to dozens of Dairy Farmers
The odor O so raft.

Shirley and her sister
Cooking in the kitchen
The extra heat from the oven
The rest of us sat in the dining room
And we listen

To the sound of the flapping
Newspapers and magazines, they beat
Trying to create a breeze
As two older relatives suffered in the heat

The meal was cooked to perfection
By two sisters long ago
As we celebrated Thanksgiving
Far from El Dorado.
