Under a spreading ChestNut Tree
a village Smith once stood,
but alas that poor Tree
got chopped down for fire wood.

And likewise that dear Tree
that lifted leafy arms to pray,
was chooped down for fire wood too
one cold and wintry day.

And on and on it goes I fear
seemingly without any ceasing,
and I wonder what we'll do
without that oxygen they were releasing.

And I know it may seem selfish
but I am filled with a deep despair,
when I think of the simple fact
that I cant breathe without any air!
Bob Mitchum
