Just another Korean Shrine???

Just another Korean Shrine???

Just another Korean Shrine???

Just another Korean Shrine???

I got these pictures
From a friend of mine
Who was in Korea in 1946
Of this beautiful Korean Shrine

The pictures were in magnificent color
But after sixty some years
The color has faded enough
To bring me to tears.

The stark white of the statues
The beautiful reds
Those gorgeous ornaments
The carefully cared for shrubbery beds.

This old photo
Doesn’t do this Shrine justice
With the color gone forever
It’s faded and no longer robustas.
(My word)

The craftsmanship
The detail shown
Is there any man today
That is known

That can make something
This beautiful to see
Just another shrine you say
Not just another shrine to me.

After the Shrine was erected
With all the ornate woodwork there
To color all the façade
With Tender Lovin Care

Month’s maybe years
Painstaking detail needed
Thousands of nooks and crannies
In the end “he” or “they” succeeded

Was it one or a thousand men
With thoughts so divine?
Was it Noblemen or slaves?
Who created this design?

With all the mystery
Travelin through my mind
I stare with awed wonderment
This is not Just another Korean Shrine.
