The Muddy Pond

The Muddy Pond

The Muddy Pond

Every day as I walk to the lodge
I pass by this muddy pond
That fills with water
After the rain showers have gone

Yesterday as I walked by
I was in luck
I saw twelve ducklets
And the Mother duck

The Mother duck was showing her little Quacklets
While they looked on
How to search for goodies
In the bottom of the Muddy Pond

That Mallard mother duck
Kept a wary eye on me
Not knowing what I might do
Always ready to protect her family

Twelve little ďFuzz BallsĒ
An even dozen in the brood
Out in that Muddy Pond
Just searching the bottom for food

As I looked on
I enjoyed watching them all
Those perfect tiny bodies
Those twelve Ducklets, so small

Saw them again today
But the Muddy Pond
Is drying up will the
Mother Hen with her brood move on?

Still not old enough to fly
Where will she go?
Twelve little Quacklets
All in a row

Iím sure that she will be OK
Iím sure arenít her first little Quacklets
I certainly hope they will survive
Those fuzzy little Ducklets

May the Muddy Pond
Not go dry
Till after
Those young baby ducks learn to fly.
