Well it's five AM in the morning
and My day it has just begun
I'm sitting on my back porch
waiting to greet that old Sun.

The whipporwills are still singing
their lonesome whipporwill song
and My Wife's asleep in Our Bedroom
but soon the TV will come on.

And the News Man will tell Me a story
filled with trouble and gloom
of disasters and wars and the Economy
and how this old world is doomed.

So I sit on My porch in the morning
and I light up My first cigarette
while knowing that Nicotine can kill Me
but not wanting to think about that.

I went to the Bank Yesterday
I wanted to get a small loan
but the banker said no we're closed down
and the Govt. is sending us home.

I stopped at the local gas station
my old truck was needing some gas
it cost me five bucks a gallon
but they tell me this to will pass.

And I work at a Factory thats closing
they are sending my job to Peru
and I'm loosing the House that I live in
because the Mortgage is all over due.

So I sit on my porch at five AM
waiting to hear some good news
but the news is all bad and it makes me sad
and some how it gives me the blues.
