Oh I am just a Soldier
and I have been for three years
but We have to go back on Shiloh Hill
and I wont come back I fear.

Oh tell my Dear Old Mother
and My Father if You will
to come and bring My Body
back down from Shiloh Hill.

I hear those Wippowills calling
it's such a lonesome sound
and I fear that come tomorrow
I'll lay dead upon that ground.

My Comrads all around Me
some are quiet and still tonight
but Some are crying softly
in fear of the coming fight.

Yes We must go back to Shiloh Hill
when the Sun comes up tomorrow
but I know I wont be coming back
and My Heart is filled with sorrow.

So tell My Dear Old Mother
and My Father if You will
to come and bring My Body
back down from Shiloh Hill.
