The Big Boat It came up the River
from the Stacks the Black Smoke poured
And the Captain shouted out Loudly,
and We Soldiers all Clambered Aboard.

The Captain He Gave Us Our Orders
Heres's what You Men shold know,
We're going to a Place called Pitsburg
but The Rebs,They call it Shiloh.

And those Big Wheels were rolling
as That Boat It took Us up Stream,
and Those Stacks They Belched out Smoke
as Black as Old Death it did seem.

We headed up that Big River
and why They did I dont know,
for We called that Place Pitsburg
but The Rebs,They called it Shiloh.

And We fought there for three hard Days
and We won but at a great cost,
with over three thousand Men
that were Killed, Wounded or Lost.

It was the greatest of Victories
at least thats what We were told,
at that place We called Pitsburg
and Johnny Reb,He called it Shiloh.
