Downtown Halifax Pub

Chug-a-lugging brew downing
drafts in two's and three's
money just paper moving
from one pocket to another.
Some geezer’s broke after a
third round wife and kids home
waiting waitress happy with
her kind of happy crowd
cigarette smoke and stale jokes
orders of fish ‘n chips ‘n
lots of beer a noisy bunch.
Tips are good music pounding
some can't hold their booze
porcelain bowl always
ready for another customer.
Excitement winds through the
melee coming as laughter with
the next tray of drinks.
